About Ecothought
We are systems people by nature and practice.
Ecothought began in 2007, building critical infrastructure for defence and industry. Over time, it evolved—rooted now in a deeper question: What does it mean to design for the long term, on land that changes, in a climate that no longer waits?
This journal is part of our pivot. Here we think out loud. We test ideas. We write about farms, fibre, floods, and feedback loops. We believe landscapes can be intelligent, design can be regenerative, and stewardship is more than a word—it’s a duty.
Our posts fall into three loose categories:
- Thinking – essays on systems, design, and complexity
- Doing – notes from the field, trials, tools, and infrastructure
- Seeing – images and insights from the land
We’re based in Central Victoria, Australia, but the questions we ask are global. How do we live with systems, not just in them? How do we design for futures we can’t fully predict? And how do we do so with care, rigour, and honesty?
